Hold the front page

Nothing particularly interesting about this - but I found a picture from our local paper of the time we went on a tour of historic sites around our home town, Southampton.

Even though quite a lot of the older buildings were knocked down during the second world war, there is still a fair bit to see, for example, the building in the background is Bargate, the ancient entrance to the city (although it is now slap-bang in the middle of it!).

The man in the middle is all like "this is my Southampton, I'm so proud of it". The kids are more "yeah gramps, well enjoy this stinking pile of crap town while you can still think straight. When I grow up and become town planner I'm gonna have all these bits of history you love so much knocked down because you embarrassed me in front of my friends by making me go on that stupid tour. "Isn't that Mrs Oddbod's son in the paper James, your phriend from school?", "so it is mum, I'll have to get that blown up extra large in order to make fun of him in front of his peers. Sure, it's likely he'll be beaten as a consequence of this but you can't be photographed going on a city tour and not expect recriminations" "That's nice dear"."

That is Timmy Oddbod. He deserves a good beating irregardless of having been on a city tour.
